Our Annual Darlene Love Christmas Greeting To Everyone

It's Christmas Eve. That means we're upholding tradition, and presenting you with our Darlene Love holiday greeting. 

"Christmas Baby (Please Come Home)" is my favorite holiday song so every year, I send out a greeting with that song. 

Love has been on TV every Christmas for decades, doing the song perfectly every time. 

This year, she was on the "Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."  She's 84 years old now, but still looks fantastic and sounds amazing. She was rocking sort of a 1970s look this year with those bell bottoms. 

Old pros like Paul Shaffer, Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul made the performance complete. 

It's been a rather tough year for many of us, including myself. I've had a few setbacks, some life complications, but with wonderful people surrounding me, everything is still worth it. 

I hope (almost) all of you have a great holiday, with calmness, love, laughter, warmth and a break from life's worries. I say "almost" because there's a few people in Washington who decidedly are not in the Christmas spirit.  I don't wish any of them harm, other than receiving a lump of coal in their stockings.

Christmas. Hope you're with the people you love! 

This post won't have any weather or climate news in it.  It's my way of saying Merry Christmas.  

One of my Christmas traditions is to post Darlene Love's annual performance of my favorite  holiday song, "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)."  

Every Christmas season since way back in 1986 when she first did this on the Late Show With David Letterman, I've sought  this Darlene Love magic out, as it's always somewhere on TV.  . 

After Letterman closed up shop, Love did her magic for a few years on "The View."  Something about when Love was on "The View" wasn't quite as spectacular, but still well worth it. 

This year, Jimmy Fallon got her on the Tonight Show, and the whole performance was made even more spectacular with the help of Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul, along with Paul Shaffer. 

Darlene Love, 83, is back in all her glory and voice. It's nice to have a great constant at Christmas like that beautiful singer. She hasn't faded a bit. 

I hope your baby or whoever is important in your life has come home to be with you.  I hope you have a glorious Christmas, full of fun and joy and love and gratitude. And free of crappy weather, of course!

Quick Vermont Christmas Update: Some Power Outages Linger, But Santa Bringing No New Scary Things

Merry Christmas, everyone! 

 The bad news is about 22,000 customers still had no power in Vermont as of 4:30 p.m. Christmas Eve after yesterday's extreme storm. 

The good news is crews are working during the holiday to restore power. And there's no really scary weather coming to Vermont for the Christmas holiday.

Vermont Emergency Management has a list of warming centers if you need them.  Don't be shy going to them. That's what they're there for. 

Main highways in Vermont late this afternoon were in pretty good shape, having been cleaned up nicely from last evening's flash freeze and burst of heavy snow.  At least that's what Vermont's network of traffic cameras shows.  I'm sure some back roads are icy, as are many sidewalks, so be careful! 

Yeah, it's still cold and windy out there, and you'll have to bundle up if you're out Christmas caroling,

Temperatures won't fall too much tonight, bottoming out in the single digits. Gusty winds will keep the wind chill below zero.

Christmas day itself will be pretty nice, relatively speaking. Most of us will see highs in the low 20s, the wind will have died down somewhat and there might even be some glimpses of sun. 

I had another non-weather related blog in the past that I have let go dormant, at least for now. Every year, I had a tradition to give everyone a Christmas greeting. It consists of a recent video of Darlene Love doing her famous "Christmas Baby, Please Come Home."
