Windy Vermont Sunday Yields To Cool Start To Week; Severe Weather To Largely Miss The State This Week

The wind will be light today, making it safe. More gusts
 of over 30 mph. I'll make sure I'll unfurl it by then. 

A large shade umbrella ended up on my roof yesterday. 

It was unusually breezy in Vermont yesterday as an oddly strong storm for July departed. Under the sunshine,  winds gusted as high as 34 mph. 

At my house in St. Albans, Vermont. that deck umbrella spent an hour on the roof. It eventually fell into an adjacent spruce tree, and we were able to get it down with no real harm. 

So much for our drama. 

The cool Sunday weather ended in an almost chilly dawn today. Most places in Vermont got into the low 50s, with quite a few upper 40s. Burlington got to 56 degrees, the coolest since June 17. 

Today will be a beauty, though a little wildfire smoke is back. It won't get as thick as it was on Saturday afternoon, or last Tuesday.  It's just some haze today.  Highs should get to near 80, maybe low 80s in the warmer valleys. 

NEXT STORM

The next system coming in for Tuesday and Wednesday looks similar to what we had Saturday, minus  some of the wildfire smoke. 

Once again, the severe weather will hit mostly well to our south and west. And there could be a lot of it. The western Great Lakes should have the rough weather today. Tomorrow, it'll be the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic States getting nailed with severe storms and possible tornadoes.

Instead, lots of clouds and relatively cool air should keep Vermont out of the severe storms. NOAA's Storm Prediction Center does have most of us in a low level marginal risk for severe storms. A rogue strong storm could enter the mix tomorrow. 

It looks like we'll have several rounds at showers and possible thunderstorms. It won't rain all day, and most of it should hit later in the day and the evening. Rainfall won't be extreme either. Just a typical July rainy interval. 

Tuesday should be breezy, much like it was Saturday. Gusts in the Champlain Valley could reach 30 mph. I'll keep my deck umbrellas closed.

Not much to say here. Near normal weather should take us through the rest of the month. I'm sure there will be surprises in there one way or another.
