Weird, Stormy Vermont Day On Video

Pelting rains accompanied thunderstorms with
temperatures in the 30s this past Wednesday
in St. Albans, Vermont
I made a big fuss on this past Wednesday's weird weather in northern Vermont.

It featured cold weather thunderstorms, bursts of heavy rain, local areas of freezing rain and sometimes strong, gusty winds.

Of course I had to capture the relative drama on video, and that's below. at the bottom of this post.

You can walk through my day that started with threatening clouds, then rain, then lightning and thunder, then downpours, an almost flood, and finally, gusty evening winds.

The sound of the thunder was interesting, too. With a layer of very warm air just a few thousand feet overhead feeding the thunderstorms, and an inversion trapping low level cold air, it changed the sound of the thunder.

Instead of a sharp clap, it just kind of rolled, and rolled and rolled.  Pretty eerie and cool sounding.

The whole day was a classic example of strange Vermont weather.

Here's the video. If you don't see the video below, click on this link. If you do see the image, click on that and enjoy a walk-through of an odd weather day.
